James Mcenry Obituary

Published by Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation on Apr. 5, 2009.
James McEnry Jr., 80, of Camas/Washougal, passed away on April 5, 2009. He was the son of James Sr. and Doris McEnry and was born September 1, 1928 in Ellensburg, Washington. Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Georgia; brothers Del and Tom (Gloria); sons Doug (Kathy), Dan (Debbie) and John; daughter Terri (Tom) Reschak; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Jim retired from Georgia Pacific Corporation as a papermaker of 43 years. Jim also took great pride in being the past president of United Papermakers International Union #130, where he worked tirelessly to promote the well being of his fellow papermakers. Jim was an avid hunter (didn't shoot much) and fisherman (caught very few) who also enjoyed youth sports and activities. Mostly, he enjoyed the friendship, family time and association these activities brought him. A hobby that kept him busy was his flower and vegetable gardens which were his pride and joy. Later in his life, he became an avid bird watcher and feeder. He lived for the Seahawks and Mariners and almost never missed a game. He rarely missed an event that his children and grandchildren were involved in. His volunteering of time to local sports, especially youth baseball is a standard we could always admire. Especially his many years as president of the Camas/Washougal Babe Ruth Association and the attention the community gained through the sponsoring of the 1974 Western Regional Senior Babe Ruth Tournament of which he was the Director. The community, friends and family will miss him greatly…but he will never be forgotten. A celebration of life will be held Friday, April 10 at 11:00 am at Straub's Funeral Home in Camas. Donations may be sent to the Camas Boosters football at PO Box 710, Camas WA or the Panther Foundation c/o Washougal School District 4855 Evergreen Way, Washougal WA.
