Jill Prusin Obituary

Published by Weed Corley Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services - North on Mar. 15, 2012.
Jill Prusin passed away March 15, 2012. Jill (aka Nana) was born on May 10, 1945 in New York City and was raised in Montclair, New Jersey. She attended Rutgers University and graduated with a BA is business. Professionally, Jill worked for many years in Sales and Management but in 1984 found her true passion writing "copy" for the New York Restaurant Hotline. A publication that ranked and reviewed the top NYC restaurants. She married Bernard Sheinberg in 1966 and after an amicable divorce, found her true love Robert Prusin and was remarried in 1991. Robert passed away just a few years after their marriage. Jill relocated to San Antonio in 2000 to be closer to her family. Her son Jonathan, Daughter-in-law Lauren and grand daughter Anna were living there while Jonathan was stationed while serving in the USAF. After separating from the Air Force in 2004 and settling in Austin, Jill moved to Austin to be closer to her growing family. The Sheinberg family now includes three children, Anna, Ben and Jeremy and these three kids were the absolute joy of Jill's life. She was an integral part of their lives. Jill loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren. A gourmet cook, she often spent time teaching her grandkids to cook and bake. She would visit her grandchildren at school and enjoyed the simple things such as bringing them lunch and playing with them at the park. She was a voracious reader and passed her love of reading onto her grandchildren as well. Jill could be found every Sunday at her family's house rooting for the NY Giants and bringing bags and bags of tupperware containers full of her delicious home made food. Jill was also very active in her local community. She had many friends and neighbors that she enjoyed going to movies and lunches with. Everyone knew her and she knew everyone. She was always around to offer a smile, a laugh or her political commentary. Jill's hobby was collecting quotes and this quote embodies her life: "What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal." Albert Pike She was a wonderful and caring mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend. She has touched us all and her memory has shaped and will continue to shape our lives. Nana will be missed dearly. Memorial service will be held Monday March 19th at 2 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin TX 78705
