I think about John whenever I drive on Rice or stop at Taste of Scandinavia for one of his favorite blueberry muffins.

I think of John often. As I drive on Rice, I pass his house and find myself talking to him. He was a wonderful friend.

I think of John often. Every time I drive past his house, I am reminded of the day I stopped to say Hello. I miss you and the twinkle in your eyes.

I had the honor of meeting John a few years ago and found out we had a connection with the boxing world through relatives. It was a blessing to know him and visit with him. He always had a dry sense of humor when it came to his age and health. He told me he wouldn't be here at Christmas. I am glad he's spending Christmas in heaven. God Bless you John! Thanks for your friendship

I'm one of the many Meals on Wheels volunteers who got to know John over the past several years. I looked forward to seeing John and visiting with him. He always had a story or song to share, and loved seeing the children when they came to his door. He was truly a special man and will be missed by many.

December 14, 2017
My name is Merridith (Duellman) Joly and I first met John when I was 14 at a Junior girl's golf tournament. This began our friendship that blossomed throughout my women's golf career.
John was a champion for Women's golf in MN. He loved to attend tournaments, meet players, gallery for his "favorites", visit, chat, drink coffee, eat a muffin and visit some more. Golf was his passion. John took copious notes and typed results of hundreds of golf tournaments throughout his career.
He always told me that it had to be Women's golf only- too many men golfers and too many men's tournament for him to wrap his brain around.
Our friendship was rekindled over the last 10 years. I had the joy of spending time with him and having great conversations about a huge range of topics. He even convinced me to learn a little about wine and a whole lot about Italian food.
I was able to spend two hours with him at his nursing home the day before he passed. I told him about my crazy chemistry students, our family, Gilbe's hockey season thus far, and finally that he could move on to his maker.
I told him that his Mother, Father, Joe, and Georgia were waiting... along with wine, good food and many of his golfing friends that passed before him.
I just wish he had made it two more days to see 96.
John was ready and was at peace. I will miss him telling me, "Oh, Really?"
Thank you for reading.

Johnny Salvator?
Mary Wareham
December 14, 2017
My name is Mary Wareham, my husband is Dennis and we are in Apple Valley. I believe I have a picture of Johnny Salvator taken at his First Communion and I have been looking online through familysearch.org this evening for the John Salvador (Salvator) family that my husband remembers from the 1950s when he lived on East River Terrace in Minneapolis. We received some photos from Dennis' sister Shirley Wareham (Dalton) and one of them we think is Johnny Salvator. He is dressed in a white shirt and trousers standing in front of a fireplace. Looks very much like a First Communion picture. It is large, about 8x11 and I would like to give it to the family.
