Jonathan Piersma

Jonathan Piersma, 33, of Zeeland, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021. Jon was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on August 16, 1988, to James A. Piersma and Mary (Schipper) Piersma. Starting in infancy and throughout his life Jonathan was always living a life "on borrowed time". His brushes with his mortality happened throughout his life. RU-Reformers Unanimous, and A.A. Alcoholics Anonymous were important parts of his life. Jon loved music and was a talented musician. He was a funny and charismatic young man, and he will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his father James A. Piersma in 2017. He is survived by his mother Mary Piersma, his sisters: Julie and Ryan Kooienga, Rebecca and Cam Bogardus; brothers: Damien Piersma, Nikolaas Piersma; step-mother Amy Hertel-Piersma. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Harvest Baptist Church, 5444 Pleasant Street, Hudsonville MI 49426. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Tuesday, Nov. 30, at Harvest Baptist Church, and 10-10:45 am Wednesday prior to the funeral. Interment will be Vriesland Cemetery.
