Joseph W. Gladen

Joseph W. Gladen 75 of Philadelphia passed away peacefully at home on June 10, 2022. Beloved husband of 51 years to Martha E. Emery Gladen. Loving father of Joseph K. Gladen, John E. Gladen, Heather L. Fitzwater (John). Grandfather of Caitlin, Jaqueline, Anthony, and Carleigh. Dear brother of Janet Towarnicki (John). Joe was the former commander of American legion post #120 and an active member for over 40 years, and a member of Artisan Order of Mutual Protection (AMOP). He was also a member of the United States Army. He worked at the Philadelphia Naval ship yard for 30 years as a rigger. He enjoyed playing the drums and the trumpet in the Artisan band with his father. He enjoyed cooking and started a catering business with his son J&J caterers. He enjoyed bowling in the Artisan league for 40 years with his father, sons and daughter. He spent the rest of his retirement with his family and grandkids. Relatives and friends are invited to Joseph's Life Celebration Wednesday, June 15,2022 from 7:00 PM to 9:00PM with an 8:00PM service by AOMP and Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM at John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Rd., Philadelphia PA 19154. Followed by his Funeral Mass 11:00AM at St. Jerome's Church, 8100 Colfax St. Philadelphia PA 19136. Interment to be held at a later date at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
