Judith Cluverius Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 5, 2013.
CLUVERIUS, JUDITH DVOROVY Suddenly on May 5, 2013 of heart failure at the age of 75. Judith "Judy" Cluverius, originally from Chicago, Illinois, graduated from Northwestern University in 1959 with a degree in Drama and married Wat Tyler Cluverius IV. They left Chicago initially with the U.S. Navy and ultimately lived throughout the Middle East with the foreign service where, as the wife of a diplomat, she was well-respected for her own diplomatic social skills. She settled in Annapolis, Maryland with her husband and two children in 1972 where she remained (when not overseas) until her death. After divorcing in 1988, she spent twenty happy years with U.S. Army Colonel (Retired) Thomas A. Pianka. She was an art lover and collector, a film scholar and collector, and had a marvelous sense of humor. She will be sorely missed by her dear friends and family. She is survived by her son Wat Tyler Cluverius V and daughter-in-law Lauren Mellon, of Seattle, Washington; her daughter Charlotte Eugenie Cluverius and son-in-law David Klevan, of Washington DC; and her adoring granddaughter Mayfield "Maizie" Klevan. An Open House will be held at her home on Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 3-7pm. Please call (773) 793-9504 for directions. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your favorite charity or going to see a great film in her honor.
