Kathryn Sharstrom

Kathryn "Kathy" Janeen Sharstrom was born on August 7, 1950, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Milton and Eleanor (Luehring) Joecks. Kathy was baptized as an infant on August 27, 1950, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cedar Mills Township, rural Hutchinson, Minnesota, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on May 17, 1964, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. She received her education in Hutchinson and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1968. Kathy furthered her education for 2 years at both the Hutchinson and Willmar Technical College campus. On August 22, 1970, Kathy was united in marriage to Norman "Tom" Sharstrom at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. This marriage was blessed with two daughters, Kristi and Sara. Kathy and Tom resided in Hutchinson. They shared 43 years of marriage. Kathy was employed at Kilian Farmers Insurance in Hutchinson, as an Administrator Assistant. She was also employed at the Hutchinson Medical Center as a Medical Secretary. Kathy and Tom were co-owners of Krisara Company in Hutchinson She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. Kathy enjoyed logic puzzles, cooking, crafts, and traveling. She was a "do-it yourself" person and kept herself busy. Kathy especially enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and spoiling her grandchildren. Kathy passed away Monday, September 2, 2013, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the age of 63 years. Blessed be her memory. Kathy is survived by her: Husband, Norman Thomas "Tom" Sharstrom of Hutchinson, MN; Daughters, Kristi Hance and her husband, Josh of Monticello, MN, Sara McSweeney and her husband, Matt of Ankeny, IA; Grandchildren, Mason and Lucas Hance, Maxwell and Kaylee McSweeney; Mother, Eleanor Joecks of Darwin, MN; Sister, Barbara Dolezal of Silver Lake, MN; Brother-In-Law, John Sharstrom and his wife, Kim of Hutchinson, MN; Sister-In-Law, Becky Sharstrom of Englewood, CO; Nephews, Russell Bergs and his wife, Julie of Dallas, GA, Michael Bergs and his wife, Kirsten of Glencoe, MN, Eric Sharstrom of Englewood, CO; Niece, Charlotte Sharstrom of Ft. Collins, CO; Great Niece, Ashley Bergs of Hutchinson, MN; Many other relatives and friends. Kathy is preceded in death by her Father, Milton Joecks; Brothers, Bruce Joecks, Terry Joecks; Sister, Nancy Joecks; Sister-In-Law, Elaine Sharstrom; Brother-In-Law, Douglas Dolezal; Parents-In-Law, Harold and Elsie Sharstrom.
