Lawrence D. Beck, Sr.

Lawrence D. Beck, 89, of Wethersfield, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Golyshko) Beck for 66 years. Born in New Britain, son of the late John and Pearl (Bernotas) Beck, he lived in Newington prior to becoming a Wethersfield resident 28 years ago. Lawrence served his country honorably in the U.S. Army for 8 years, including during the Korean War. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church. Lawrence was employed formerly by Fenn Manufacturing and the Oak Hill School for the Blind, before ultimately retiring from UConn Health Center after many years of employment. He loved watching UConn Women's Basketball and was always active in his children's sports. He took great pride in keeping up his yard and enjoyed sweets, especially the one's made by his wife Betty. Along with his wife, he leaves his three children, Ellen Santoro and her husband Rico of Wethersfield, Carol Paproski and her husband the Very Rev. Peter Paproski of Stratford, and Lawrence Beck, Jr. and his wife Kathleen Dupilka of Stafford Springs, and his four grandchildren, Leah and Rachel Santoro and Daniel and Timothy Paproski. He also leaves his sisters-in-law, Jean Golyshko of Southington and Lee Beck of Plainville and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John "Sonny" Beck and brother-in-law William Golyshko. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 15th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church, 305 Washington St., New Britain. Burial will follow at the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Cemetery.
