Leo John Frankino aka Leo Giuseppe Franchina, 91 went to be with our Lord on September 5, 2019 while in the loving arms of his family in Peyton, Colorado after a long battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of the late Leota Jean Frankino (nee Starkey). Leo was born on September 14, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio. He served our country twice as an Army Communications Officer during the WWII and Korean Wars from 1944 and 1952, respectively, retiring with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He married his high school sweetheart Leota Jean Starkey in 1948 and the two went on to have five children. He was a meat cutter for 28 years at Lincoln Savmor Supermarkets, retiring in 1981. Leo loved to play golf with his favorite buddies and was very athletic his entire life. He also played baseball, football and was the one person you wanted as your partner while playing cards. What Leo loved most of all was his family, his Golden Retrievers and his favorite ball club, a super fan of the Cleveland Indians. Leo Frankino is survived by one son, Michael Phillip Frankino (Denise J. Conley) of Grafton, Ohio; two daughters, Leigh Anne Marie Frankino of Willoughby HIlls, Ohio, and Mary Kathleen Cavanaugh (Sgt. Robert D. Cavanaugh) of Peyton, Colorado, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren; sister June Kruzel (Joseph) and brother Sam Franchino (Burnette). He was preceded in death by his wife, Leota Jean Frankino, sons Joseph John Frankino and Thomas Leo Frankino, sisters Josephine Hendry, Rose Starr, Sara Carcioppolo and Francesca Krasowski and brothers Michael Frankino and Anthony Frankino. The family will receive friends at the HOPKO FUNERAL HOME 6020 BROADVIEW RD (S OF SNOW RD) PARMA where services will be held Saturday September 14 at 9a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30a.m. at Saint Anthony of Padua Church 6750 State Rd. Our thoughts and prayers are with Leo's family at this very sad time. Leo was the kindest most decent person we had the pleasure of knowing. My husband played golf with his father and Leo and I always loved his homemade sausage and fresh tomatoes,he was just so kind and thoughtful that way. He spoke of his beloved wife so often I remember,he is now resting in peace with her. Heaven gained a angel with Leo.
