Lilly Lieu Obituary

Published by Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills on Dec. 18, 2022.
Lilly Lieu, 64, was born on October 8, 1958, in Hong Kong and passed away on December 18, 2022. She resided with her family in Sierra Madre, CA at the time of her passing. Lilly was born to her late father Howard and mother Yee Ying. She married her husband, Archie Chin, on July 31,1982 in South Pasadena, CA. Their three sons were born in Southern California and the family lived in Sierra Madre since 1992. She is survived by her loving husband, Archie Chin, and sons Jonathan, Justin, Jeffrey and daughter in law Priscilla. Lilly was preceded in death by her brother Philip and survived by sisters Milly and Summer along with numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was beloved and cherished by her family, friends, accounting clients and the Southern California ice hockey community. She will be greatly missed but she continues to live in our hearts. As a woman of faith, Lilly wished to have a celebration of the immortality promised to all by Christ. She would love to be remembered with stories that celebrate what was good and blessed in her life. A Celebration of Life ceremony is scheduled for February 2, 2023 (Thursday), at 10:30 a.m., at Christian Assembly Church (North Sanctuary) located at 2435 Colorado Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90041. All are welcome to attend.

I am thankful for Lilly and very lucky to have known her in my life. I want to thank her for being there as a friend and for her to have had treated me as a family member. Grateful for her being there for me through tough times. I do not know how I would have made it without her, especially the last three years. I want to thank her family, husband, and boys for the help and support. Will always miss you Lilly. Thank you and rest in piece.

Our families became close when our sons played ice hockey together. You get to know people when you share the ups and downs of your sons' sports team over months of a competitive schedule. Lilly was always the voice of reason and a wonderful person to be with away from home. We will miss her as will everyone who knew her. She will live on in our thoughts and prayers.

My mother took a lot of family photos of growing up in Hong Kong. Lilly's father was an avid photographer and he shared his passion with his sisters, my mother and Aunt Margaret. We are so thankful that they made the effort to record our childhood.
Over the last few weeks, I have been going through the album my mother put together of her Lieu family. We were too young to remember some of these images, so these are truly precious items now.
Lilly was my "twin" and if I were to go back to our time in HK, I would give her a big hug and tell her to take good care of her future self. I won't need to tell her I love her dearly, she would know that already.

Lilly and her family are some of the most generous and kind people. I met Lilly over ten years ago when I first signed up my son for special hockey. She was there to encourage and help out from day one. Herself and family had been there weekly to assist and coach kids with special needs. As a family when two kids on the autistic spectrum, we appreciated all the help and the respite from the daily grind when the kids are on the ice. We appreciated everything you have done and regret that we had not told you personally.

Lilly's generosity had inspired me and others to give back in every small way we can with other families with special needs. She will live on in our collective memory.

We are so sorry to hear of Lilly's passing. We met Lilly, Archie, and their sons through the Pasadena Maple Leafs Special Needs hockey program in 2011. We are most grateful for their generosity, love, and time in supporting this program over the years, as it has been an incredible blessing for our son, Daniel. One highlight was attending the LA Kings game in March 2012 where the Kings Care foundation presented PML with a special donation. The Kings went on to win the Stanley Cup that year. Our deepest condolences and love to your family.

Lilly’s beautiful kind heart could be seen through her love for the persecuted church in Asia. She was a faithful supporter and partner of Ethnos Asia ministries for many years. She gave unconditionally. She will be dearly missed. Good night, Lilly. Our thoughts and prayers are with your whole family.

Our family has been fortunate to be neighbors with Lilly, Archie and their beautiful family for over 25 years. Lilly was a beautiful, kind and giving soul; always friendly, always lending a hand, and always a great neighbor to know. We will miss her seeing her walking Yoshi and Miso everyday and we share in Archie and the boys grief at their untimely loss. Lilly will be sorely missed by all of us.

What a heartfelt loss! Lilly, your wonderful, smiling presence, wise counsel and zest for life are sorely missed. I am so thankful the Lord sent you to our ministry, Embracing Life, not just to do the books, but to encourage us on with your calm, assuring presence. So grateful to have known you.

Archie, I feel so fortunate that I got to see you and Lilly so recently—and to have the treat of a long conversation with her. Such a delight, so lovely, so special. It seems impossible that she’s gone. I’m wishing you and your boys comfort and strength, and hoping it won’t be too long before Lilly’s memory brings you more laughter than tears. Love to you all.

Lilly was an extremely kind hearted, hard working and loving person. My family has known her for over 30 plus years and she will truly be missed. She was always willing to lend a hand as well as be a great listener. Her smile was contagious and would brighten the room. I know she is having a lovely conversation with my grandparents and my Mom and they are all special guardian angels now. Cherish all the wonderful memories and She will never be forgotten. Lilly has made a huge impact on many. We shall miss you and think of you when staring at the bright stars in the sky.

Lilly has always been a true friend since the day I met her. Having a friend like her is a rare joy in life. She will always be in my thoughts as I am so grateful for our time together. She is a great example of how to selflessly care for others and embrace life. She has graduated from this place with the highest of honors.

I will miss Lilly so much. She had a wonderful spirit , always helpful , always uplifting. She worked incredibly hard, and was a rock for her whole family. She was gracious, respectful, charming, helpful, considerate and thoughtful. We had the same birthday. We shared stories as mothers. She offered me hockey tickets. She referred me to her brother in law for computer help. She had migraines and I would send her articles on the topic if I thought she might find them helpful. She was open minded and I think she worked and consulted with me for over 15 years. She was strong and she was wise. She gave her best to her family and to her clients she worked with. She could be totally trusted. I hope wherever she is that she is on a glorious vacation free of the stresses and concerns of this earthly realm. And I hope her family continues to feel her presence and her love. Jennifer Steele

Aunt Lilly was a remarkable woman. It’s impossible to summarize how much she means to me. I think what stands out most was her initiative to be there for all of the important moments, as well as the challenging ones. She was so giving, hard-working, and the most loving and generous person towards everyone. I hope we all strive to be more like her.

Thank you Aunt Lilly for the amazing impact you’ve made in my childrens’ lives and mine. We love you so much.
