One year has passed and I cannot count how often I have thought of Maria with a smile but with sadness at her loss. I have thought of her dear granddaughters who were her life and her reason for being. This was truly a good woman and we are all that much better for having known her.

Back in 1993 I was new to Manchester. Got a job downtown, needed a place to go to lunch(by myself.)I shyly walked into the Merrimack Restaurant and was immediately swept into the warmth of Koni and Maria's good hearts and restaurant. From then on I ate only at the Merrimack where I had been welcomed so enthusiastically by Maria and Koni. Truly a sad loss for many who knew Marie. My prayers are with Marie and her beloved family.

Our deepest sympathy to the entire Kalanzis/Saitas families. A very special hug to Helena and Stella who Maria could not have loved more. I first met her as a mom to Serena at East Little League! Then mom to Cos at soccer and our lives have been intertwined since with frequent meals at the restaurant and with family events at Webster and at Livingston Park with our grandchildren. She was the real thing and gave her all to her husband, their business, their kids and grandchildren. Please be sure Stella and Helena ALWAYS know they were her life! Now, Maria, rest easy because this is the only way you would focus on you! The world - especially NH - has a HUGE hole!!!

Was saddened to hear about Maria's passing. I was fortunate enough to get to know the Saitas family throught the Tzianabos's. Maria was a firecracker and had a smile that could light up a room. One of my first jobs ever was working at the Merrimack Restaurant as a dish washer/bus boy. Maria made me feel more than welcome, she treated me like family. She will be sorely missed by all!

I am profoundly sorry for the great loss your family has so recently experienced. Maria and I met when we were children. As adults our lives took different paths, but we reconnected some years ago at Nothing But Good Times. We were both raising our grandchildren and found we had much in common. My admiration for the generous, kind, loving, person Maria was is immeasurable. Though my condolences are for each of you, my heartfelt prayers are for her very treasured granddaughters. May she be their guardian angel for all their lives, May Jesus wrap them in his loving arms and forever keep them safe.

So sorry to hear about Maria. We were customers at The Merrimack for many years but she always made us feel like part of the family. No matter how busy she was she always found time to chat with us, quite often grabbing a coffee and sitting with us. Koni, if there's anything I can do please give me a call.
