Mark DeFelippo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 24, 2014.
Mark Phillip DeFelippo, 65, of Aberdeen, died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Aberdeen Health and Rehab. Mark Phillip DeFelippo was born November 6, 1948 to Mike and Antoinetta DeFelippo in Royal Oak, MI. He grew up in the Royal Oak and Detroit area. After graduating from high school, Mark joined the United States Navy. He served in Vietnam, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star. Mark also received the fourth Good Conduct Award for period ending March 30, 1987. In the military he worked his way up to executive chef. After his honorable discharge, Mark was a chef at several highly established restaurants in the Mobile Alabama area. Over the years, Mark and his children lived in Tanner Williams, Alabama and later Grand Bay, Alabama. Mark love animals, especially dogs and cats. He also liked cows and horses and enjoyed riding horses. He liked reading books about the Civil War. Mark liked Ford and Chevy trucks. He enjoyed listening to Pearl Jam, Morris, the Eagles and Jimmy Buffet, but he was a die-hard Beatle's fan! Mark played a little on the keyboard and his children have fond memories of him singing to them when they were little. He enjoyed swimming, but didn't care much for going to the beach. An avid sports fan, Mark liked watching the Detroit Red Wings hockey team and the Atlanta Braves baseball team. A favorite pass time of Mark's was bowling which he did for many years. Most of all, Mark loved to cook and was keen on his Italian heritage. Grateful for having shared Mark's life are his daughter, Erin Kay DeFelippo, Mobile, AL, two sons, Colton Phillip DeFelippo, Mobile, AL and Alan (Amanda) Whitesell, Michigan and four grandchildren, Katie, Bobby, Missy and Becky.
