Michael Patrick Egan, Sr.

Michael Patrick Egan, 66, of New Orleans, LA passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Michelle Smith Bridges and son-in-law Brian W. Bridges and grandson, Steven Louis Smith of Amite, LA. He is also survived by siblings George Martin Egan, Jr., Loretta Egan Doussan both of New Orleans LA and Kathleen (Kathie) Egan Hasling and brother-in-law LtC. (Ret) Robert (Bob/Bobby) F. Hasling, Jr., USAF of Satellite Beach, FL. In addition he is survived by numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael P. Egan, Jr. and his sister, Penny Egan Saladino. Michael and his family grew up in the Stallings Playground area of New Orleans where all attended St. Rose de Lima grammar school and served as an altar boy. Michael Left St. Rose in the 8th grade to attend St. Aloysius and joined the Navy when was 17 yrs. old. While growing up around Stallings he played Basketball, Baseball and Swam for NORD achieving the coveted Swimmer of the year trophy in 1960 and Athlete of the Year that same year. All members of Plumbers & Steamers Local 60 are welcome. Ceremonies will be at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA with visitation for family and friends beginning at 11 AM. A Roman Catholic Memorial Mass will be said in Michael's honor at 1 PM with interment at St. Patrick Cemetery #2 following.
