Nick M. Alexandropoulos, 85, of Burlington, died at 8:01 AM, Sunday, August 11, 2013, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born August 1, 1928, in Athens, Greece, he was the son of Michael and Pothitie Alexandropoulos. On December 27, 1959, he married Demetra C. Constandopoulos in Athens, Greece. Nick was a shoe cobbler in Greece and moved to Burlington in 1967 and worked at George's Pizza in downtown Burlington. He had worked at Chittenden & Eastman Company. In 1972 he founded Napoli's Pizza and Restaurant in the Union Hotel and moved to it's current location in 1980. He retired in 1998. He served in the Greek Army and NATO. He enjoyed playing semi-pro soccer in his younger days and later watching it. He also enjoyed traveling to Greece, sightseeing and swimming in the ocean, going to auctions and casinos, flying kites, and he loved his grandkids. Survivors include his wife, Demetra, two sons, George Alexandropoulos of Loveland, CO, and Mike (Lisa) Alexandropoulos of Burlington; five grandchildren, Jordan Alexandropoulos, George Alexandropoulos, Cecilia Alexandropoulos, Aydon Alexandropoulos, and Trinity White; one brother; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, who died in WWII, and three sisters. Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, August 15, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home. The funeral service for Mr. Alexandropoulos will be 10:00 AM Friday, August 16, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Peter Andronache parish priest of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Cedar Rapids officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Keokuk. A time of food and fellowship will be held at Big Muddy's following the burial. A memorial has been established for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
