Patricia Zygaj Obituary

Published by D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home on Jun. 9, 2017.
Patricia Helen Zygaj, age 73 of Fraser, died Friday, June 9, 2017 at McLaren Hospital in Flint, Michigan. She was born June 22, 1943 in Hamtramck, daughter of the late Oliver and the late Regina (nee: Kowalski) Horsch. Born in the Polish haven of Hamtramck, Patricia and her family would eventually relocate to one of Michigan's growing coastal attractions, the City of St. Clair Shores. It is there that she was raised, attended school, and ultimately graduated. The employment picture in Patricia's life found her landing a position with Towne Mortgage where she worked as a file clerk. She was employed there for many years and always extended the utmost in dedicated service to the company. It was that output of excellence and determination that found her being promoted to management, a position she held until her retirement. When she wasn't working at her job, you'd often find Patricia doing another form of work that she loved and treasured,…planting and tending to her flower garden in the yard. Possessing both a green thumb and the tender-loving-care necessary for a bountiful garden, Patricia poured the finest parts of her horticultural know-how and prowess into helping create a thing of beauty for all to enjoy. Yet of all that Patricia held dear and enjoyed the most, nothing could hold a candle to the precious memories made in the company of her family. Spending time with those loved ones closest to her heart was a joy beyond expression,…especially when it came to those sweetest cherubs in life, her three grandchildren. Beauty can be found in many different varieties of flowers, but nothing springs forth more glorious than a heart that makes a soul feel happy,…and that's just what Crystal, Matthew and Stephanie provided their Grandmother. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Patricia led a life that impacted the hearts and souls of many and leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love, compassion and kindness. In her absence, she leaves a storehouse of amazing memories for all to treasure who were blessed to know this incredible lady. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Patricia was the beloved wife of the late Donald who preceded her in death in 1977. Loving mother of Donald Zygaj and Lynn (Gregg) Allen. Cherished grandmother of Crystal (Cory Martin) Gusmano, Matthew Allen, and Stephanie Allen. Patricia was predeceased by her brother, Greg Horsch. Visitation for Patricia will be held Friday, June 16th from 3-9, with a 7:00 pm Scripture Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. Mrs. Zygaj will lie in state on Saturday from 9:00 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 9:30 am at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Catholic Church, 18720 E. 13 Mile Road (at Kelly) in Roseville. Her interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan. Please share memories of Patricia at her memory book above.

Aunt was my confirmation sponsor, and has been in my thoughts and prayers ever since and even before. Always had a smile and a laugh that would give you such a great feeling. Of being family and loved, I could stop over anytime And she was always their, I am so happy and blessed that I did call her at Easter. And she was there once again. You will be so missed, but now you feel no pain and with our heavenly family RIP Aunt Pat Love you, Reyne

Extending my sincere sympathy to the Zygaj and Allen families. It was a true pleasure to have known Pat. She loved her family and was a devoted Mother and Grandmother. I'll always treasure the sweet memories with her! It was an honor to be a part of her extended family. It touched my heart to see the pictures you shared of Pat, Matthew and Jacob. I'm keeping you all in my prayers. Love, Amy and Jacob DeVary

Pat was more to us than just our son's mother-in-law. She became part of our family and we were welcomed into hers. We spent holidays at each other's homes, vacationed together, and enjoyed being grandparents together. We even celebrated our birthdays together as they are only one day apart. I will miss that this year. We joked with each other about our children and our experiences with them as only mothers can. There were always things to remember or times to remember that would bring a smile to our faces. I considered her a dear friend. Our lives are richer because she was in them for a short while and we will treasure those memories forever. Grandma with the yellow hair will be missed by Grandma with the brown hair.

Lynne, Donnie and the entire family of Pat,
I worked with Pat at Towne Mortgage and considered Pat a friend. I have so many memories of working with Pat downstairs at Towne, sharing laughter, stories about her children, good times, hard work and even some tears. My son, who was very young at the time, would come into work to visit sometimes and she was always so kind and loving to him and always asked about him even after I left Towne Mortgage. . She adored Lynn and Donnie and always said they were her life. After I left Towne, we would keep in contact (though not as much as I now wished we had), but when I saw her last, she talked the entire time about her grandkids and how she adored them and loved being with her family. I am so sorry we lost touch for awhile and will always regret I did not see her in the past few years. Please know that your mom will always be with you and that even though it is not in the way you want, she will be your guardian angel until you are all reunited. May that give you some peace in these difficult days.
