Richie and I taught together in the same department at the high school. Also, for a brief period I was his supervisor. He was a dynamic, energetic, fun type of teacher. kids loved him and I enjoyed visiting his classes.
One of his passions was coaching freshmen football. He had many undefeated seasons. I often was in the hall while he was doing board work teaching his players their responsibilities and positions. He was a technical master at teaching the game and received excellent feedback from his players. Kids gave him 100 per cent back from his coaching style. I was always awed at how he knew the game so well and taught it brilliantly. I will always remember him as a fun loving, outgoing type of person who enjoyed life, gave his best to his classes, loved his family, and was generally a great guy to have around at meetings and in the faculty room. His sense of humor was infectious.
