He entered the US Army in 1954 and served until 1956 during the Korean Conflict. Bob married Teresa Genz on October 21, 1958 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dubuque. He was employed as a machinist at the John Deere Dubuque Works until his retirement in 1981. He later worked at the Dubuque Greyhound Park and Casino. Bob was a wonderful provider and was always there for his family. He was a former member of the AMVETS and a UAW Retiree. Bob was a member of St. Raphael's Cathedral. He enjoyed his time at the "dog track". Bob enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, camping or just sitting on the front porch. He enjoyed watching trains and taking long drives. Bob was a modeller whose passions were ships and trains. Bob was an opinionated man, especially regarding politics and he enjoyed a good debate. He will be missed by his family and friends. Visitation Sunday, May 6, 2007 Friends may call from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at Behr's, 1491 Main Street, Dubuque. A parish wake service will be on Sunday at Behr's at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Service 11:00 am, Monday, May 7, 2007 St. Raphael's Cathedral Dubuque, IA Funeral Services will be on Monday at St. Raphaels's Cathedral at 11:00 a.m. Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Dubuque Post 6. A Robert E. Janzig Memorial Fund has been established.
