Robert Knox Shields, Jr., 82, of Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Velma Mellard Shields entered into eternal rest Monday, April 8, 2019. His Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the Graveside in Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Avenue at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL. Robert (Knox) was born May 9, 1936 in Lowell, North Carolina, son of Robert Knox Shields, Sr., and Louise Beam Shields. He was a Superintendent at the SC Ports Authority. He was a member of Citadel Square Baptist Church. He is survived by his son Robert and wife Rebecca of Charleston, SC, and his brother Barry Shields and wife Joyce of North Carolina. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 www.stjude.org/donate.
