Ruth Loewel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 6, 2016.
Ruth Julianne White was born on February 14, 1946 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Robert and Sophie (Egge) White. She was raised in Bloomington, MN where she graduated from high school in 1964. Ruth continued her education at the Minnesota Medical Technical School in Minneapolis. She worked for doctors in Bloomington before moving to Glendale, AZ. Ruth continued her career in Glendale at an orthopedic clinic performing new patient intake and records and also transcribing records. On May 24, 1980 Ruth was united in marriage to Richard Loewel in Arizona. The couple was blessed with five children. Shortly after their marriage the family moved to Spearfish, SD where Ruth became the executive secretary at Norwest Bank. In 1990 Ruth and Richard moved to Alexandria, MN to be closer to family. Soon after the move, Ruth was hired by Wal-Mart as one of their first employees in the Alexandria store. Ruth was active at her church, Living Waters and volunteered as she could. Ruth enjoyed her work at Wal-Mart and loved getting together with her co-workers on Wednesday evenings. She enjoyed tending her vegetable and flower gardens and liked watching and feeding the birds, squirrels and ducks that visited her yard. She spent time stamping letters and cards, knitting and sewing. She fished in the summer. Ruth liked to play golf with Richard and her friends. She was an excellent golfer and usually drove the ball further and straighter down the fairway than most of her golf partners; her skill always amazed and impressed Richard. Ruth also liked to cook and bake for her family. She especially enjoyed trying new recipes and making desserts. Most important to Ruth was her family. She was proud of her children and loved spending time with her grandchildren. On Friday, May 28, 2010 Ruth lost her battle with breast cancer at the age of sixty-four years. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Loewel of Alexandria, sons Duane Loewel and wife, Dianne, of Hammond, WI and Arie Wabeke of Cottonwood, AZ; daughters Monica Hinds and husband, Kenneth, of Cincinnati, OH, Cindy Folsland and husband, David, of Oldham, SD and Amy Wright and husband, Reagon, of River Falls, WI; ten grandchildren, Brandon and Anne Loewel, Anthony and Aidan Hinds, Reagon, Dalton, Austyn, and Kennedy Wright, Jim and Catey Vandergon; one great grandson, Hunter Scherr; one brother, Jon White and wife, Grace, of Rosemount, MN; and one sister, Claudia Elfstrom of Sebeka, MN. A funeral service was held Thursday, June 3, 2010 at the Livings Waters Church in Alexandria. Reverend James Resa officiated. Interment followed in the Greenwood Cemetery at River Falls, WI. Casket bearers included Leo Cassidy, Jeff Crosby, Chris Ford, Matthew Elfstrom, Jim Felch and Gary Weisemann. Honorary casket bearers included all of Ruth?s Co-Workers from Wal-Mart. Memorials are preferred to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
