LEROY DESGRANGES Obituary

LEROY W. DESGRANGES

Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home

Our much loved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, Leroy W. Desgranges, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 14, 2014. Leroy was born to Walter W. Desgranges and Viola V. Buckstruck-Desgranges on August 28, 1922 in Kennewick, Washington.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Mother and Brother Russel Desgranges.

Leroy attended primary schools in Kennewick and graduated from Kennewick High in 1941. Upon his graduation he entered the United States Army and served our Country proudly in World War II as an MP from 1942 through 1946. Once he returned to Kennewick, he married the love of his life, Alene Bradley, on May 21, 1946 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Leroy and Alene would have been married for 68 years this May. From their love three children were born. Orvil L. Desgranges (wife Kathy, son Scott, and daughter Cathy), Diana L. Desgranges-Domas (husband Gary, son Chad, daughter Stephanie, and son Todd) and Linda M. Desgranges-Williams (husband Steve, sons Mark and Steven, and daughter Kimberly). There are 19 great-grandchildren. Leroy was a family man and he is loved and will be greatly missed by all of us.

Leroy was a superintendent for the Port of Pasco for 22 years before being forced to retire due to health concerns in 1982. When he retired he could be found much of this time tinkering with the many clocks that were his hobby. If you ever went to their home, at the top of the hours it could be quite a sound. The sound of his clocks will be what the family will always remember fondly. He loved to go hunting for arrowheads. This last year he was able to donate several large boxes of artifacts to the Indian Museum in Toppenish, Washington. Leroy was a quiet man, always listening and his sense of humor was unmatched. You would think he was just tuning everyone out until he got a zinger in there that got us all to laughing and his chuckle could be heard above the rest. It was one of the best sounds.

Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in the heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy. This is what we will hold onto until we see you again.

We would like to thank Hospice Chaplain Craig Weber, nurses Lisa and Heather, Dr. Kohan and Dr. Ness.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Hospice or a charity of your choice.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, February 20, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 1401 S. Union Street, Kennewick. A reception will follow at City Church, 4624 W. 10th Avenue.
