GARY EVERSON Obituary

GARY EVERSON Gary Everson, 62, Spokane, WA, passed away October 12, 2018. Born in Spokane to Bob and Juanita Everson, he married Diane Pool in 1979. Together they had three wonderful children: Ashley, Evan and Bobby. Gary taught and coached at RiverView High School in Finley, WA for his entire teaching profession and developed a rare and unique bond with both his students and fellow educators. Gary had a positive influence on the lives of many. He retired in 2014. A resident of Pasco, WA for 37 years. He played many cherished golf rounds with his "Gangsome" buddies. These friendships spanned over 30 years and continue to provide strength and support. The Finley Community and the Pasco "Gangsome" became family to Gary, Diane and their kids. Priest Lake was a favorite for the Eversons. Gary enjoyed friends and family, fished, and wandered the forest for firewood. His family is grateful for these lasting memories. Gary is survived by his wife Diane of 39 1/2 years; Ashley, Evan, and Bobby (Molly) Everson, his children; and granddaughter Josie Ann. He also leaves his mother, Juanita, and brother, Tom (Jenny) Everson. He was preceded in death by his dad, Bob Everson. Upon request, no service is planned. He will be so missed.

He was a great man, was our coach in 85-86 taught us many of life's lessons. Lessons we use to this day. Thank you Mr Everson. It has served me very well over the last 32 years and on and on. You will be missed but not forgotten sir.

It's difficult to characterize how important Mr. Everson was to so many of us who went to school or worked at RVHS. He wasn't just a talented, caring educator, who pushed us to excel in ways we might not have thought possible -- he was a pillar of the Finley community, someone we all could trust. Mr. Everson always made me feel like I belonged. And he made us laugh, so so hard. Me and the rest of the Hughes family are so very grateful to him. To the Everson family: thank you for sharing him with all of us. May you find peace and comfort.

To The Everson Family - I am so very sorry for your loss and the Finley Community lost a special friend and mentor to many kids that went through his classes. Many years ago :) he was my math teacher, I have never been good at math even after his class however it was pretty cool having the P.E. teacher for the math teacher.. He was always "trying" to be serious but you knew he cared and had some fun with all of us in his class.... He truly will be missed and I am so blessed knowing that he was an influence in my life and made me a much better person for knowing him.

This I can promise.......
Soon the pain of losing him will be replaced with the joy of having had him. Time heals pain and opens the door to wonderful memories. He still lives, but resides in a special place in your heart.
