Dear Frantz Family, I worked with Dr. Frantz at the Lipid Research Lab in the KE building from 1973 to 1980. EVERYONE who worked for him loved him! He was rather shy but it did not take long to get him laughing that special laugh of his! Generous, fair minded, brillant, devoted to his family; these as just a few of the things I fondly recall about Ivan. We always enjoyed talking with him about all his extra curricular actvities! I had planned to attend the memorial service next week, but unfortunataly I will be out of town on a long awaited vacation. I really wanted to be there to "pay my respects." Bill Swing, another lab worker will be attending to "represent" Lipid Research Lab.
Dr. Frantz, God Bless you! You will live on in the memories of all of those who's life you have touched ~

My deepest condolences to all of Ivan's family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
I immediately knew him to be a very special sort of man from the first time I met him, through our mutual interest in Amateur Radio. He was actually one of the teachers who helped me to get my first Ham Radio license.
I was fascinated to learn early in our association of a small part of his medical background, perhaps because of my own employment as a clinician and educator at the U of Mn College of Pharmacy and Minneapolis VA Medical Center. I am saddened to realize how much more there was to learn about him, had my own life's work in healthcare not kept me so busy, at a time when his declining health kept him away from activities that we had previously shared together.
What a rich, full life he had, and how graciously and generously he shared his knowledge and abilities with others. I feel honored to have known him at all, and know that his legacy will live on even now that he has passed on to his next new adventure after this life on Earth.

What an honor to be able to take care of Dr. Ivan in his last years. After a lifetime devoted to heling others finally is was his time to receive some help. In knowing and caring for Ivan we also developed a love and respect for Vee and the rest of the Frantz family, especially Charlie. Our time with Ivan was only a glimpse of his wonderful life. We are sad with the loss but trust that Ivan is in the loving arms of his creator and we thank God for the opportunity of being part of the Frantz family.
