Played on the same team with Mark. Was a great guy to have around the locker room. Then Mark became a referee in the same league and we enjoyed shooting clearing passes at him. Mark had a great since of humor and would just laugh it off and would then call a penalty against us. We would all have cocktails together after the games. Mark will be missed.

Mark recruited me to work as a referee in high school hockey in 2007. I always looked forward to working with him so I could thank him for doing so. He was a pleasure to be around on the ice, in the locker room, and during post game debrief. He always remembered me and made sure to ask how things were going. A true gentleman and class act.

Chiya and Bauer Family.. Mark provided a great contribution to old mens hockey in St Paul. He enjoyed the fun of being a player in the league for years and then took over managing the leagues refereeing. The league continues on today because of his contributions. My thoughts are with your family. Dan Bartho

Mark,
You showed me the fun side of officiating and got me pointed in the right direction when I was new in the St. Paul officiating world. You will be missed my friend.

We will miss Mark so much. He was a special force in my children's lives, working with Eliot in his shop, taking him fishing, planting Laura's hand print on fresh cement behind his bldg, bringing us everything from cucumbers and rasberries to hostas from his garden. When we had no power for days, Mark brought over a generator and saved our food. Not the least of my fond memories will be our swapping chemo war stories the past year. He was such a force and I can't believe he's gone. I think we should dedicate the Laurel Ave alley garden to him! Much love and condolences to his family. Thanks for sharing him with the neighborhood!
