Charles FODOR Obituary

Age 81, died June 9, 2018 Born in Hungary in 1936, Charles survived the Budapest ghetto. He escaped to Austria following the failed 1956 uprising against Russia and immigrated to the U.S. He served in the Air Force and graduated from college in Texas. Charles had a 28-year career with the American Red Cross. In retirement, he was a professional volunteer with many organizations. Over the years, he spoke to thousands of people about his experience in the Holocaust and raised over a million dollars for local agencies. Charles was preceded in death by his mother Mathilde in the Holocaust and his father Jozsef. He is survived by his wife Victoria; son David and David's mother Gale Foreman Toensing; grandchildren Adam and Laila; cousins Susan Roz, Susan Oberfeld, and Judy Gartner; and many dear friends. Funeral 11:00 a.m. TUESDAY, June 12 at MOUNT ZION TEMPLE, 1300 Summit Ave., St. Paul, with SHIVA there at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday.
