Dear Mavis & Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Bob was a fine, loving man who will be missed by many... he is now out of pain and watching his loved ones with a smile from the heaven's above.
I will always remember with warmth the memories from a trip to Cancun, Mexico when Bob accompianed the RAHS Lunch Bunch. He was out private escort, many crazy shenanigans & much laughter went on and I'm sure he was astonished at some of our wild nights. He & Mavis ended up back in Cancun for many years after that first trip... so it must have impressed him.
Love to you all...God Bless

I am very sorry to hear about the Bob passing away. Please accept my condolences. I knew Bob since the 1980s when he visited CIMMYT and we met occasionally at St. Paul during project visits. Bob was an excellent scientist, a great personality and a friend who inspired many wheat scientists at CIMMYT and in the developing world.

Like many others in the wheat breeding community, I will keep Bob's family in our hearts and prayers. I first met Bob when I applied for a position at NDSU and knew of his excellent research long before that. He was a superb scientist, but even more a superb human being. He was everyone's friend from the first time you met him and we all counted on him for great wisdom and advice. He never failed us.
