Marie Catherine Linkert

Age 89 Of Minneapolis Passed away Sunday April 22, 2012. She was born April 17, 1923 in Kerkhoven, MN, the 2nd daughter of Edward O. and Esther V. (Peterson) Nelson. Her father died early and she along with her sister Eloise were raised by their mother in Kerkhoven. She graduated from high school in 1941 and worked for the Kerkhoven Bank for a year before moving to the Clara Doerr Club and attending the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. After school she accepted employment at the Minneapolis Iron Store where she met Martin Linkert. They were married September 3, 1949. They made their home in Minneapolis for the next 55 years. Marie retired from Dayton's sales audit department. In 2005 Marie moved to the Heritage Care Community of Edina and resided there until her death. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Eloise Brewer, and husband, Martin. She leaves behind 3 children, Catherine (William) Siira, Brandon, MN, Julie (David) Jones, Berlin, WI, and Gregory (Diane) Linkert, Lonsdale, MN. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Service Saturday 1:00 PM at Richfield Lutheran Church 60th Street and Nicollet Ave. Interment Pleasant View.
