Martin Foley Obituary

Martin James Foley, 63, born in Norwood, MA, passed away on December 11, 2020, due to complications from COVID 19.

Martin and his family lived in Raymond, NH, for 30 years, then for the past few years in Fremont, NH. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara (Holmes) Foley; son Timothy and spouse Kelly and their children Aidan and Avery; daughter Danielle (Foley) Capone and spouse Michael, and their child Cameron; and son Michael Foley and spouse, Jamie, and son Chase.

Marty grew up in Plainville, MA., on School Street with his parents Martin and Eunice Foley, and siblings Deborah (Foley) Peterson, Steven Foley, Bonnie (Foley) Ruzzo and Jennifer (Foley) DeSousa.

Marty loved sports. He played baseball on the Giants baseball team and the Plainville Packers football team, which his father coached. Marty attended King Philip High School where he excelled in sports. He was #24 on the KP Warriors Football team. He also held multiple records for track and field. After high school he attended Salem State College, Salem MA, where he majored in mathematics.

For many years, Marty was an assistant coach for the NorRock Vikings NH football team, on which both sons played. Marty just loved coaching the kids. He became head coach and led the team to the State Championship, then went further to win the Division Championship.

Marty and his friend Brian Annino owned a successful company for 20 years in Salem NH, A&F Fixture Products. After the company sold, Marty landed a job at COBHAM in Exeter, NH, as a Tool Maker and stayed in the machine shop industry until his passing.

Marty loved Art. He had a creative mind, dabbled in acrylic and watercolors then learned to turn and carve wood. He also taught himself to sculpt marble. Marty was a Jack-of-all-trades, a man of many talents and a collector of unique things. Marty was the best husband, father, papa, and friend this world has ever seen. He had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor and could light up a room the minute he walked in. He could make anyone feel good about themselves or make anyone laugh with his wit and his expressions. He had such an impact on every life, young or old and was adored by all. There is not one single word to describe Marty, but it has been said that "Marty was a one-man party." Rest in peace knowing how much we all love you!!

SERVICES: There will be no public calling hours due to the pandemic, but a celebration of his life will be planned in New Hampshire the summer of 2021, near the ocean where Marty loved to spend time with his family and friends.

I had the privilege and honor of knowing Marty for a handful of months but he made an impact on myself and others at Cobham. At the start of this year, I and another co-worker were temporarily transferred to the machine shop to assist in operations. As space was tight and we didn't have our own tools, we used Martins tools and his bench while he made tooling. He was protective of his tools naturally but simply just asked to take care of his toolbox and area which we did. It was an absolute pleasure to talk sports in general and football especially. Later I learned about his antique picking hobby which I also like. The shop REALLY depended upon Martins expertise in tool making because he was a really good machinist and the go-to guy. An absolute professional with his work supporting both private and military. We are all just devastated to learn the news of his passing whether we knew him for a handful of months or many years.

From the days of good old King Philip High School, he had the best smile
of the entire class. What a football player!!! I witnessed 2 incredible catches made in his senior year. They were both 60 yard bombs which he caught in full stride and then ran in for touchdowns...the first one was against Oliver Ames, the second against Foxboro. Bravo!
Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted. From the entire class of 1975 of King Philip Regional High School we offer our sincere condolences to the family of Martin Foley.
