Ben Maggiore Obituary

Ben "Chuggy" Maggiore, Jr. 1955 - 2016
Avid Motorcyclist
Mr. Ben "Chuggy" Maggiore, Jr., age 60, of Remsen, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2016, in the comfort of his brother's home, after a courageous battle, with his family by his side.
Born in Utica, on May 9, 1955, Ben was the son of the late Ben P. "Bengee" and Hazel (Kennehan) Maggiore. He was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1973. Chuggy shared in a loving companionship of more than 30 years with Robin M. Kennedy, who passed away on December 2, 2010.
As a youngster, Chuggy worked with his mother and brother at Wolfie's Restaurant on the Busy Corner at Lafayette and Genesee Streets. Subsequently, he and his brother co-owned and co-operated AJ's Floor Covering on Columbia Street. Upon the passing of his father, Chuggy continued the family legacy as co-owner and co-operator of Bengee's Downtown Bar on Columbia Street. Chuggy was a standup guy and a man's man. Although he had a tough exterior, he had a warm and loving interior. He was selfless and always had a sincere concern for others. He was loved and respected by many for the goodness he had in his heart. Chuggy loved his motorcycles, and he enjoyed cooking and games of chance.
Ben is survived by his daughter, Tara Kennerknecht, of Remsen; and his brother and sister-in-law, Angelo and Doris Maggiore, of North Utica. He also leaves his niece, Joei Richards; great-nieces, Devin and Mia Rose; cousins; his extended family members; and his friends, Gary and Kim Hoage, Don Fetterly, and Diane Iannone.
The family would like to thank Glenda, from the Visiting Nurse Association, and the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., for the care and compassion rendered to Ben.
A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.

I want to extend my condolences to the family. Although it's been a while, I knew Chuggy pretty much my Whole life. My Father Joe Voce and Angelo were very close. And my brother Joey Voce and Chuggy were best friends. I hope Joey met him at the pearly gates and is showing him around. Times like these I wish I still lived in Utica to be able to be there for the family. Fly High Chuggy, you will be missed.

I only know Ang...and I saw his love for his brother. I know Tommy and Bobby thought Ben was a good man. That's good enough for me. Rest in peace dear soul. You deserve that.

I have no personal memories, but I know people who loved this man. Hence, I know he was a good one. Ang...I'm so very sorry as is Tommy. We hurt with you. Sending love your way.

Good bye old friend. I will always remember and treasure the days of our childhood. You and me, Joanne and Angelo at the family restaurant and the Brandegee playground. My heart goes out to Angelo.
