Rose Picente Obituary
Rome/Utica, NY
Mrs. Rose Marie (Colonna) Picente, 85, passed away, with her loving family by her side, on Friday, November 4, 2011, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare. Rose was born in Herkimer, NY, April 26, 1926, a daughter of the late John B. and Pasqualina (Lisanti) Colonna. She was educated in Herkimer schools. On October 25, 1952, Rose was joined in marriage to Anthony J. "Priest" Picente, Sr. Rose and Tony shared forty-three loving years together until his passing on December 17, 1995. For many years, Mrs. Picente worked as a seamstress and had been employed at Joseph & Feiss Co. Rose was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, whose life revolved around her family. She will be sadly missed by her two daughters and one son-in-law, Catherine and Gary Dumka, of Marcy, and Anne Marie Lombard, of Whitesboro; her son and daughter-in-law, County Executive Anthony J. and Eleanor (Griffo) Picente, Jr., of Rome; beloved grandchildren, Jennifer and Patrick Bailey, and Maria Lombard; one sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Peter DeMarco, of Utica; a sister-in-law, Jean Colonna, of Herkimer; and also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Daniel, Bernard "Billy", James, and Anthony Colonna. Her funeral will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church in Utica, with interment in Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday (today) from 2-6 p.m. at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger Street, corner of Mohawk Street, in Utica. We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare and Sitrin Health Care for the loving care and compassion shown to our mom during her illness.
