Roland Bertram Obituary
UTICA - Roland H. Bertram, 86, of N. Utica, passed away on August 22, 2018 at home.
Roland was born in Syracuse, a son of Addie Bertram. He served in the Army during the Korean War with the 544th Dispensary. At St. Bridget's Church, Syracuse, on May 12, 1956, he was united in marriage to Beverly Jean Willoughby, a blessed union, until her death in 2010. For many years, until his retirement in 1989, Roland was employed at Griffiss Air Force Base. He later retired from Munson Williams Proctor Art Institute. He was a life member of American Legion Post #229, N. Utica and the VFW of Schuyler.
Roland is survived by two sons, Roland P. Bertram, Utica and Bruce Bertram and fiancée, Rebecca Sytsma, MI; five grandchildren, Patrick Bertram and wife, Maghen, FL, Michele Bertram, Utica, Michael Bertram, Utica, Carrie Clark, Holland Patent and Katlynn Bertram, MI; a sister, Mary Ellen Bertram, Syracuse; and several great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Gregory Bertram, in 2010; and a brother, Harold Bertram.
Mr. Bertram's funeral will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018, at 1:30, at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Entombment with Military Honors, will be in Holy Trinity Mausoleum and will take place immediately following the service. Calling hours at the funeral home are prior to the service from 12:00 - 1:30. Those so wishing may make donations to the American Cancer Society in Roland's memory.

A great person!! Always checking in on my mom!! So kind to me growing up. Remember fishing with uncle & cousins. Always took us to the zoo!! Miss the good times spent together!!

So many amazing memories spending summers with my Aunt ,Uncle & cousins! Uncle Roland took us fishing & to the zoo! Loved swimming in the pool! He always took the time to call my mom to chat. She always said how she liked & looked forward to it!! I hope you have found the family again & are having coffee!!
