Gilberto Perez Obituary
In 1956, Gilberto married Amelia Barroso, and they had four children. He is survived by his wife, Amelia Barroso Perez, children Gilberto (Eloisa) Perez Jr., Delia (Jose) Aguilar, Gloria (Vincent) Dunn, Javier (Christina) Perez, Teodoro Perez "hermano de criansa", Ernestina Perez & Grandchildren, Gilbert III, Gregorio, Ignacio, Crystal, Nedina, Linda, William, Ezekiel, Thomas, Aaron & eight great grandchildren. He is preceded by his parents Genovevo & Michaela Perez & siblings.
Gilberto's awards were many & he would often joke, "It would take more than a day to list them all." As Gilberto would often say with a sigh, "Todo Por Servir Se Acaba."
Viewing will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus located at 150 N Ohio Ave, Mercedes, TX 78570. A private mass will be held for Gilberto for his immediate family at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mercedes on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Burial to follow at the Mercedes Memorial Cemetery. Please follow social distancing guidelines & wear your mask at all times. As much as the family would love to receive your hugs it's important to provide safety for all.

Thanks for the great music. My father Melchor RIP loved el Burro Pardo. I'm glad I was able to take him to listen to his favorite song live at Casa Blanca Ballroom Laredo, TX. He dedicated the song to my father, he had just finished chemo and had the energy to go listen live Music.

Gilbert was one of my heros. I never gave up trying to get my hit record on radio stations. I work for a long time before it started to get played on the air. My record finally became a hit in Texas in 1980 after my summer tour.
