Elias C. Perez Sr.

Elias Cardona Perez, Sr., a compassionate and loving soul, departed this world on March 15, 2026, at the age of 92. Born in Swinney Switch, Texas on September 7, 1933, Elias was a beacon of warmth, wisdom, and wit. With a heart always full of humor and a spirit brimming with resilience, Elias was a beloved father, brother, and friend. His laughter was infectious, his stories captivating, and his love for his family was paramount. Elias was a grain elevator operator in the agricultural sector for 40 years, a job that he took great pride in and carried out with unwavering dedication.

In Mathis, Texas, where Elias resided, he was known for his vibrant personality and the love he had for his family. His family was his cornerstone, his sanctuary of joy and contentment. Elias was widowed, with his beloved wife, Epifania Perez, having preceded him in death along with his children Ismael Perez, Israel Perez, Rosalinda Perez, his great granddaughter Lucia Cruz Perez, along with his parents Manuel and Secundina Perez, and his siblings Enrique Perez, David Perez, Celia Perez, Sobieda Marez, Ofelia Paiz, Adela Martinez, and brother-in-law Leonardo Cantu.

Elias' legacy of love and laughter will live on through his surviving children and their spouses, Efren (Mary) Perez, Enrique (Senaida) Perez, Elias (Lydia) Perez, Jr., Edward (Jeanette) Perez, Sr. and daughters-in-law Alicia Perez and Magdalina Olivarez. He is also survived by his sister, Delia Cantu, 18 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great grandchildren. His life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and family bonds, and his memory will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19th at Primera Iglesia Bautista in Mathis from 5:00p.m. - 8:00p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 7:00p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 20th at Primera Iglesia Bautista in Mathis at 10:00a.m. Interment to follow at Descanso Eterno #2 Cemetery in Mathis.
