ISAAC LIPOWITZ Obituary

Isaac Lipowitz  "Ike" (Age 78)
Passed away peacefully on January 27, 2019. Born in Paterson, NJ on February 19, 1940, he attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and graduated in 1964 with a degree in English Literature. He married Andrea London that year and they became Peace Corps Volunteers in Cameroon, W. Africa, an experience he treasured. After earning a Master's Degree from Syracuse University, he went on to become an Associate Professor of Urban Planning at University of the District of Columbia. Ike was an avid sailor and owned a 36' sloop for decades. He traveled extensively, read voraciously and was a crossword aficionado. Ike was passionate about live blues and jazz and could often be found among friends at local music venues in Adams Morgan. Eternally optimistic, quick-witted and adventurous, he will be missed beyond words. He is survived by his sister Harriet, brother, Jon, sister-in-law, Evelyn, a niece, a nephew, many friends and missed by his surrogate dog Audrey. A memorial service will be held in late March. His body was donated to the George Washington University School of Medicine. If desired, charity donations can be made to the ACLU or the SPCA in Ike's name.
