On Wednesday February 13, 2019, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Caroline L. Early; father of Katherine A. Lafen (Julien Xavier) and Masha A. Lafen; grandfather of Theodore Xavier; brother of Thomas Lafen (Deborah). Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd. West, Silver Spring, MD (Valet Parking) Friday, February 22, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Russian Orthodox Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, 4001 17th Street NW, Washington DC, 20011 on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 12:15 p.m. Interment at Oakland Cemetery, Adams Ave. & Ramona Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19124 on Monday, February 25 at 12 noon. I am so sad to hear about the death of Peter. I'll always have fond memories of Peter. We had some really great times playing soccer and he was always a great teammate. As a neighbor you couldn't ask for anything better ..... always eager to lend a hand or let you borrow whatever you needed. Our thoughts are with you.

When I think of Peter, I think of his kind smile, and shy Masha next to him, wet but happy. Of course, this is at Daleview. One specific memory is the year Ken died, and I was at an Ivy swim meet at Princeton, feeling a bit lost, and Peter showed up with Katie. He held up a Daleview T-shirt and shouted support to Emily when her event was announced. What a light at a difficult time for her and for me. I am so sorry for your lost, Caroline, Katie, and Masha.

I want to extend my sincerest condolences to Pete's family. I will always remember Pete for his dedication to our schools and his passion to make the world a better place.
