Tina S. Time Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 28, 2005.
In a high school where female leaders were rare, Tina Time was class president every year.
"You'd look at her and see a small physique, but she was a tough girl. She never quit," said Vaipuna Kaulave, a teacher who called Time one of the best students he ever had.
Time, 22, died Dec. 18 in Iraq when the supply truck she was driving in a dust storm collided with another vehicle. Her Army Reserve unit was located in Tucson, Ariz.
Born in Australia, Time grew up in Pago Pago in American Samoa _ an American territory in the southern Pacific Ocean. In high school there, Time was an honor student and part of a youth group and choir and taught Sunday school in church.
She joined the Army Reserve to serve her country and help pay for college, her mother said. She attended Pima Community College in Tucson and enjoyed fixing cars in her spare time.
"She told me, 'Mom, don't be afraid. I wanted to do this for my country and now I'm doing it,'" said Mary Time, Tina's mother. "She was my daughter. Now she's my angel."
She is also survived by her father, Viliamu, and four siblings, three of whom are serving in the military.

Dec 13, 2004 - December 13, 2009.
It's a privilege to leave a few words on this memorial page today, and to reflect on the fact that had she lived, Tina would still have been a very young woman, with her life ahead of her. As those years were not granted to her, I believe it is our duty to remember her service, her life and what she managed to achieve in those few years - and we must be mindful of those who loved her in her life and love her still, as they continue to move forward without her presence. God bless you Tina - rest in peace.

I remember like it was yesterday. Sgt. Time and a few of us took a quick trip for a burger run before our mission that bright sunny day. We had "Burger King." A few were sitting around; including Sgt. Time, waiting for others to get they're order. We all we're having a conversation about a shampoo product...Took us a while to get back; turned out we had another pit stop. We were a crazy crowd. But she made sure she took care of the rest that stayed behind...(I know you remember Sabrina)
It seemed to be the coldest night; no it was the coldest night. And yes, the stars were so bright that night; I lost count of falling stars.
Although I didn't spend too much time around her....I knew that day she was a good whole hearted person. Wish I could of had more conversations with her. But I know some day we'll continue our sisterhood in heaven.
So don't waste time on getting to know your brothers and sisters; because in the end that's what we all are; Gods' children..........
PSALM 23:4 "Even when I walk through the dark valley of death, I will not be afraid for YOU are close beside me.
GOD bless us all.....

I did not know Tina, but I am remembering
her service and sacrifice. She is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Every name that appears on this site is that of a special person. Each was someone's daughter, or son, Mom or Dad, loved friend, valued community member. Each cherished freedom, their Country and their fellows and each of them died doing their very best to honor all three.
It's a privilege to sign your memorial page today Tina. I hope that your family has been comforted these past years by memories of happier times - you will be remembered.

Sgt Time... I hold you forever in my heart, and your family always in my prayers. You always amazed me and brought a smile to my face.
Now four years have passed and I still vividly remember that year in Iraq. We all embarked on a life changing experience and when Tina died that night, Heaven was shooting stars in every corner of the sky, and I asked God "why?" Shortly after the news of Sgt Time's accident, Our Captain read from the Bible Ecc 3: "There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

You have helped me listen deeper, love that much extra and hold on when there's not anything to hold on to.

You, Sgt Time, are my Hero.

Never above you
Never below you
Always beside you

Always Sisters-in-Arms,

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

My daughter, Kristi Lee, from the 485th QM Co from Oklahoma knew Tina and some of her friends from her unit. She sent me an email message after the accident happened and was upset about it. She attended her memorial service there at their camp. She returned from Iraq in February and I am thankful she is safe and am so sorry that your daugher did not return. She remembers Tina and talks about her and her friends and the memories of being there. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
