Kyle Burger Obituary
BURGER KYLE THOMAS BURGER (Age 26) Kyle Thomas Burger was born April 29, 1985, in Falls Church, VA and died peacefully at his home in Reston, VA on October 11, 2011. Kyle lived with his family in Reston all of his life and attended special education programs at Sunrise Valley Elementary School and South Lakes High School. After graduating from South Lakes in 2007, Kyle became a member of SPARC (Specially Adapted Resource Club), where he and other young adults with life-long disabilities shared ther- apeutic art and music, book club, cooking and gardening activities, bowling, shopping outings, special relationships with each other and just plain old fun. Kyle was predeceased by his adoring grandmother, Dorothy "Granny" Patrick in 1992, and is survived by his devoted parents, Robert Thornton and Mary Patrick Burger, loving and caring brothers, Todd Patrick and Adam Christopher Burger, his dedicated caregiver of 17 years, Cleopatra Patriana, his nurse of 10 years, Tina Chandler, many Burger and Turbeville aunts, uncles and cousins, his SPARC friends and staff and support group of extended family, friends, educators, medical professionals, case managers, vendors and his mother's employers and co-workers for 17 years, the Internet Society and Juniper Networks. The quality of Kyle's life was maximized and enhanced by the contributions of this wide spread support network for his family. Kyle's life will be celebrated on Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Church of the Good Shepherd. 2351 Hunter Mill Rd., Vienna, VA 22181, at 3 p.m. Anyone wishing to honor Kyle's memory may make donations to SPARC, PO Box 10797, Burke, VA 22009 (www.SPARContheweb.org). Dear Bob and Mary,
I am amazed at the amount of life Kyle brought into your home. Even through all the hard challenges that he faced (you all faced) he still managed to do many of lifes little pleasures with all the gusto that was his to give. The service for Kyle today was inspirational. I'm sure it was apparent to everyone who attended that this young man and his incredible loving family have touched many lives. Though there are no words that can ease such a loss please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Kyle will be missed greatly, especially at SPARC and Justin's future birthday parties. Justin and I want Mary and Bob to know they have a standing invitation as honored guests. I am glad we got to share a part of his life. His spirit is free now enjoying all the gifts of heaven, weightlessness, freedom of movement, and easy enjoyment of food and pleasures. We are very saddened and will always think of him fondly.

Dearest Mary,
Over the past week, I have thought to write and express my love and sympathy for you and your family in order to bring you comfort. However, I find my eyes filling with tears each time and now as I type. How can I begin to comfort you when I can't even imagine the pain and sense of loss at losing a child. I will write a separate letter. Please know that you and your family are in my prayers and thoughts as you have been for many years. There are no real words I can use to express my gratitude for sharing Kyle with me. Kyle was someone who showed unconditional love to so many people. He had the ability to teach others life lessons without even using words. I never knew how deeply he impacted my own life until he took his place in the heavens.

Dear Burger Family,
A dazzling angelic glow surrounded Kyle's face and body when I first met him. As I knew you each better, I learned that Kyle's influence was a part of your essence, as a family and as individuals. The resolute strength to the warmth and laughter the Burgers share with others are directly attributable to this extraordinary young who had to overcome so many challenges.
I know you will always feel the void created by the absence of his physical being. Please know that part of his legacy is that by himself he expanded SPARC's reach forever.
Because of Kyle and the love of his family, SPARC will touch countless lives. That journey has only begun, but know that everyone helped by SPARC now and for years to come will always owe a debt of gratitude to your son and brother.
Thank you for allowing me to share just a tiny piece of the love and magic surrounding Kyle.
