As we pass Upton Street almost daily, we remember Jim Schollaert. Strange to think it has been seven years. Jim was a great colleague when we worked in the trenches in the Balkans in the 1990s.

My condolences to the family. I was not informed of his death, and found out much later. I have been praying for him a lot, and will continue to pray for the repose of his soul. He would be tremendously happy right now seeing Donald Trump as president, instituting the changes to the trade policy in this country he fought so tirelessly for during his life for. I only wish he'd been allowed to live long enough to see them take place. His work will not be forgotten. He was a good friend, and will be missed greatly.

I have great memories of Jim from our days in Bosnia together. His sense of humor and his uncoventional thinking always made him a delightful companion to be with. We mourn his passing and will cherish his memory.

Dear Schollaert family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this very sad time. I have many fond memories of talking wrestling with Jim (always Mr. Schollaert to me) both in my early wrestling days and as a former wrestler coming back to support the team. It is nice to see that his posiitive influence on so many young people will live on through his scholarship fund.

I'm really sorry to hear about your loss. When I think of my wrestling days at Yorktown, he always comes to mind as being there for not only his sons but the whole team. A true selfless gentleman.

My husband and I would like to express our sincere condolances to all of you, Jim's family, during this most difficult time in your lives.

As a classmate and friend of Jim's, we were completely shocked and saddened to learn of his passing this a.m.

Jim was always a great classmate and friend. It was such a pleasure to talk with him at all of our class gatherings and just as enjoyable thru emails as we kept in touch. At our class reunion in August, we all had such a memorable time and he was looking forward to the family vacation at the beach.

He will not only be missed dearly within your family, but as well within our class family.

Words seem so inadequate but perhaps knowing how much he meant to all of us and the UHS Class of 1957, will help lessen your sorrow. Please know how much we care.

You are all in our prayers and may Jim's memory be eternal.

Sincerely,
John and Glenda (Holland) Stavroulakis

Dear Family , Nick and I would like to express our heartfelt sympathy. We were classmates of Jim's at Union High School. The last time we saw him was at the class reunion in August. We were floored when a classmate from Arlington called this morning. We are sorry for your loss. He will be remembered in our prayers. The world was a better place because of Jim. Our memories of him, as well as your memories, will keep him in our hearts.
