I graduated from HUCD 40 years ago.
One knows that one has been trained well when one can still hear the guiding voice of Dr. James Stanback in the midst of every challenging surgical procedure. That's how I measure the man, the surgeon, the clinician, the teacher, the mentor, my friend.

May he continue to rest peaceably and rise victoriously.

Dr. Stanback was my Oral Surgery Instructor who everyone respected and learned from. It has been 30+ years since leaving Howard and I still remember what he taught me about dentistry. I truly admired him as a person and an educator. God Bless You.

To the Stanback Family I offer my sincere condolences at this time. I also pay tribute to a mentor whose voice I hear often as I practice dentistry. His influence on the students of Howard's College of Dentistry can never be underestimated.
May he rest in peace.

To the Stanback Family,

I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your father. He was very instrumental in my professional life and I will always be grateful for the knowledge with which he provided me. During my residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, he served as one of my Attending Surgeons and later, while I was on faculty, he served as my Chairperson. He was one of a kind. They broke the mold after him. Unfortunately, a recent injury prevents me from attending the celebration of his transition and Life Please be at peace. His was a life well lived. Forever grateful and with utmost Respect,

Karen Mygil, DDS
