DIANE DAVIS Obituary
DIANE LILLIAN DAVIS (Age 66)
Passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2014. Beloved mother of Marwan Terry, Kenya Terry and Ernest Davis; proud grandmother of Michaelawrence Perry, Jr. and Easton Terry. Diane was a Registered Nurse for over 40 years and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She lived a life of service that focused on giving. She touched the hearts of everyone she knew. She was a devoted member of McKendree-Simms-Brookland United Methodist Church where she was active in the Health and Welfare Ministry. Diane had a wonderful sense of humor, a welcoming smile, an unwavering optimism and a strong devotion to her faith. Diane had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. She enjoyed painting, sculpting and yoga. She always told her children not to weep when her time came. She was not afraid of death and will be dancing in God's glory. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 18. Visitation 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m. at McKendree-Simms-Brookland United Methodist Church, 2421 Lawrence St. NE, Washington, DC. My sincere condolences to the Davis family. Diane was a very special and well-loved co-worker at the District of Columbia Department of Health. In my very early years at the agency, she was the first voice and perspective I trusted and grew from. I'll always appreciated that. I always enjoyed running into her in our Brookland community just to giggle for a moment about the old days and talk seriously about the caring and the hard work. She was a role model. She will be so missed and well remembered by so many.

The fellowship community celebrates the life of a valued servant leader whose commitment to improving the lives of others has touched us all. While we are all struggling to find comfort in the news of Diane's departure from her earthly assignment, having experienced her in the work place and personally we all know that her footprint is deeply cemented in the hearts and memory of all who knew her. The world lost a special, caring and gentle soul in Diane. Not only was Diane a colleague at the Community College where we both taught, I knew her years earlier through her long-time association with my lady. I always looked forward to seeing her at the start of each semester. She will most assuredly be missed. I send my deepest condolences to her children and family. I know nothing will ever lessen the loss, but knowing that you have shared special moments together can often bring moments of joy. Wishing you continued blessings always...

I met Diane many years ago at the Office of Maternal and Child Health. She was always very friendly and generous with her time and talent. Later, she lived across the street from me in Northwest DC.
