Dear Pat,
Because of being out of town, I did not learn of Bob's death until today's notable entry in the Washington Post. I express my condolences to you and your family upon the loss of such a fine man and esteemed professional contributor. I had congratulated Bob by phone on the publication of one of his latest books. Perhaps our families wee together last as we watched our sons play indoor soccer at the old Kensington Junior High School. Time passes. My best,
Boyd L. Burris, M.D.

Dear Pat and family,
I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Simon's passing. He was truly a special man. His compassion for others was clear, as was his love for his family. His dry sense of humor was oh so entertaining. It was my honor to know him.
With love and sympathy,
Patty Myers (his dental hygienist)
