Today I find that my second dad has passed away, I am stricken with grief and will never forget our Sunday phone calls. I know that you are with my second momma whom I cherished.
If anyone of the cousins could please email me I would appreciate it. You had a huge family Uncle Charlie from the Friendly Inn which was a favorite place for me as a child wearing matching outfits as Tante Magda.
We went golfing and I was your daddy, I also remember going to Aunt Doloriss house and twirling batons with the twins. Those were great times being family
I will truly miss you so much and I know that you have gone to be with Aunt Magda.
My heart is breaking, I will always love you.
All my love

My heart is broken that I can't be there now to help send you gently back home. There was no one to help me get my wheelchair to my car. I know you would have been the 1st in line to help me were you here. I thank God my final memory of you was at Cheverly Day where we caught up, had a few laughs and carried on as if we saw each other every day. From the Friendly Inn to the Legion and everything in between, you are leaving impossible shoes to fill as everyone's best friend. Cheverly has truly lost part of its soul. My only comfort is that you are with your beloved Magda again and forever. I'll see you on the other side

Above all, Charlie took care of those he cared about. He considered it his honor and his duty. Whether it was his customers at the Friendly Inn or his neighbors on Forest Road, or his beloved Magda, even other members of the Legion, it was his nature to help them in any way he could. May God bless you my friend. My life is richer for having known you and Magda. And the times we shared will keep your memory alive in our hearts forever.

Charlie was truly a good friend of mine for many years. I always enjoyed his company. Loved seeing him and Magda at the Friendly Inn and then at the Legion, and chatting with them about different events. He will be sorely missed.

I will remember both Charlie and Magda fondly for the rest of my life. I spent many a night at the Friendly when it was open, and they always made you feel at home. When Magda became ill, Charlie became my hero as he lovingly cared for her. He was one of a kind, with a big heart. He was a gift to our community and to those he called friend.

Charlie was a fixture in Cheverly, but especially on our block. He was known as "the Mayor," a responsibility he took very seriously. (Yeah, right! ;) )
What he did take very seriously was being a great neighbor -- mowing lawns, clearing snow, being the not-so-sneaky "bread fairy." I'd been his neighbor just shy of five years and will miss him for multiples of that. Love ya, Charlie

Grief can be so very hard, but our special memories can help us to cope. Remember them today and always. 1 Corinthians 15:26.

I always thought it a privilege to sit next to Charlie's chair at the Legion. He could host a conversation on a million disparate topics and usually be correct with any opinion.
He was always glad to see people and went out of his way to ensure that his friends were always thought after.
Godspeed Charlie and have some cold Natty Bo waiting for us when we get there.
