Survivors include her mother, Marian Robinson Long; sisters Paula Hooks (Robert), Pamela Robinson (Peter Lucas) and Patricia Robinson Morison; many extended family members including a host of dear first cousins; goddaughters on which she doted; a wide circle of devoted friends to whom she was devoted in return; and a special "niece," Jenetta Stanford who helped to provide care and company for Karen in her final year. Interment private; a virtual celebration of Karen's life will be announced in the near future. In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests donations to one of Karen's favorite charities: YMCA of Metropolitan Washington, Memorial Fund c/o Karen Robinson (YMCA Silver Spring), 1112 16th Street, NW, Suite 240, Washington, DC 20036, https://www.ymcadc.org/support-the-y/give/memorial-funds/; or the Oblate Sisters of Providence, 701 Gun Road, Baltimore, MD, 21227-3899, www.oblatesisters.com.

I know WHY (accidentally, or was it fate) I tried toKaren on Sunday, 11 June 2023!
Karen bid us farewell on 12 June 2020

Three years.....
but it seems like yesterday!

We were in one another´s lives from childhood; through the in terminal adolescent &teen years; school & college days; the wild wacky unbelievable party times; the pretending to be grownups; the fellows came & went or were pushed out; then we limped into adulthood kicking & screaming; the weddings; motherhood; tears & arguments; the traveling; wine tastings & drinking really good wine; recovering; on & on we found women-hood and the true meaning of caring....
Through the years our lives were inextricably intertwined. Yes, we still partied but not so hardly, we toasted one another and thought this WILL go on forever... however
"THOSE WERE THE DAYS MY FRIEND WE THOUGHT THEY´D NEVER END.
WE´D SIND AND DANCE FOREVER AND A DAY
WE´D LIVE THE LIFE WE CHOOSE
WE´D FIGHT AND NEVER LOOSE
FOR WE WERE YOUNG AND SURE TO HAVE OUR WAY! ...."

Til we meet again......"V"

My heart and prayers go out to Karen’s family. Karen hired me in the 80’s under an upward mobility program. She was my supervisor, my friend and my mentor. I owe so much to Karen for her faith in me. She was beautiful inside and out, highly intelligent, and very caring. Karen touched many lives and will be so missed. Denise Bayliss

I pray that the almighty lift Ms. Marion, Paula, Pam, and Pat, up in prayer and that you find comfort during this difficult time. Though my brother and Karen divorced decades ago, you are my family. As evidence from the service and comments on this obituary, Karen touched many of us. We miss her, but now she is able to see Wayne, Reggie, and all that proceeded her in death. Ladies, your genes are strong, and I see your mom and dad in all of you. I love you guys and hope to see you when we get through this difficult time.

To The Robinson Family: My deepest sympathy and condolences are being sent to each of you. I was so shocked and sad when I saw Karens obituary in the Washington Post. I worked with more than 40 years ago at ACTION in Washington, D.C. It was a joy and pleasure knowing and working with Karen so many years ago. I am sorry we lost contact over the years.

My deepest sympathy to Karen's family. She was one of my former managers at FAA. She was a quick thinker and I grew much under her leadership. May she rest in peace.

Karen, you were the oldest of us, & I always admired, respected & loved you. I will always remember when you showed up at Nanas building, after shed passed away, in a helicopter! From that moment on, I decided I wanted to be just like you when I grew up - self-assured, self-reliant & well-equipped! You remain in my heart everyday, & I will remember our conversations, since that day, forever. Thank you for your guidance, Cuz. I love you eternally, Lynné

Dearest Karen, my True North

.... I shall be so very lost without you... We have been in each others lives since school days and never lost sight of each other!

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

COUSIN
You meant so much to all of us
You were special and that's no lie
You brightened up the darkest day
And the cloudiest sky
Your smile alone warmed hearts
Your laugh was like music to hear
I would give absolutely anything
To have you well and standing near
Not a second passes
When you're not on our minds
Your love we will never forget
The hurt will ease in time
Many tears I have seen and cried
They have all poured out like rain
I know that you are happy now
And no longer in any pain.
Will miss Diane

One of the many talks Karen & I shared, over the years, I will most remember her Big Sisterly Advice to always have at least $20 cash on me! (And our shared favorite candy Twizzlers). To the family: I hope that you will find comfort and support in the many gentle words you will receive at this time.
Love you, Belinda
