VIVIAN RIGGS Obituary
VIVIAN LILLA RIGGS
Vivian Lilla Riggs (neé Benjamin) passed peacefully at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia on December 28, 2020. She is survived by her son Tom Wurm, (Sue Free), daughter Lise Harvey (Mark), and three grandchildren Sarah Wurm, Noelle, and Thomas Harvey. Ms. Riggs was preceded in death by husbands, Edward Brawley, Richard Wurm, Garret Estie, and Wayne Riggs. Her first marriage to Marvin Silverman ended in divorce. Ms. Riggs was an alumna of San Francisco City College, Orange County School of Nursing, University of San Francisco, and University of California, San Francisco. She taught Community Health Nursing at San Francisco State University and California State University, Hayward. In addition to teaching, Ms. Riggs worked for the Veteran's Administration Hospital, Ft. Miley, at Laguna Honda Hospital, at San Francisco General Hospital, at St. Luke's Hospital and served in the United States Army Nurse Corps.She remained a member of the national nursing honor society, Sigma Theta Tau and Eastern Star until death. After retiring from nursing, Ms. Riggs started a second career at the Grand Lodge of California Masonic Memorial Temple Library and Museum. She had a lifelong love of sewing, gardening, art, and music.Funeral will take place at a future date at Arlington National Cemetery. She will be missed by her family and friends who loved her "love of life."

I will always remember Aunt Vivians smile, she would light up the room with it. What a wonderful testimony to how blessed she was, and all the lives she touched throughout her career.

I remember Vivian well growing up. Her and my mom (Lois Wurm), who was also a nurse, would have those secret nurse conversations, share good jokes and laughs.

Vivian and I were friends and neighbors for over 50 years during which we shared the anguish and joy of raising our respective families over coffee in our respective kitchens. She had a wicked sense of humor and could effectively put over a joke better than anyone I know, both men and women. Her passing has sparked many wonderful memories. I am so glad she was my friend
