Mary Heckman Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Heckman died on August 10, 2015, in Omaha, NE. Mary was the daughter of Ray and Mary Heckman of Merrill, WI. She was born in Madison, Wisconsin, on October 7, 1926. Following the family's move to Merrill, Mary graduated from Our Lady of Holy Cross High School in 1943. After three years at Marquette University, she entered the order of the Holy Cross Sisters USA Province, Merrill, Wisconsin, taking her perpetual vows as Sr. Paul Marie on June 17, 1954.
In 1995, she left her order and moved to California. In 2013, due to failing health, she relocated to Omaha, NE, where she took up residence with her niece, Mary Angus. At the time of her death she was a resident of the Ridgecrest Rehabilitation Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Richard, and her sister Irene and Irene's son, Joe Gervais. She is survived by two sisters, Ms. Jeanne Heckman of Merrill, WI, and Mrs. Barbara Angus (Jack) of Omaha, NE; her niece-caretaker, Mary Angus; numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins; and her lifelong friend, Sr. Ann Wittman, SCSC, Merrill, WI.
A memorial service will be held in Holy Cross Chapel at Bell Tower Residence in Merrill on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Holy Cross Sisters or your favorite charity.
