Matthew Linder Obituary
Matthew John Linder formerly of Wausau died suddenly of cardiac arrest on April 5, 2016 in Athens, GA. He was born August 15, 1974. Matthew graduated in 1992 from Wausau East High School with a full academic scholarship to UW-Madison. He later began his optical career at Jenkins Vision Care, Athens, GA. Matthew excelled in basketball with an incredible love for the game. Camarata singers was another favorite. Broken bones and stitches did not prevent him from doing all that he loved. Summers were occupied with waterskiing and fishing at the family cottage, quarry swims, golf and tennis. Winter was downhill skiing. He raved over Stephen King novels and Star Wars and of course the Packers, a love that he and daughter Hannah shared.
Those who miss him are his two children, Jacob and Hannah, his parents Alison Mayer and Tim Linder, his stepfather Gary Mayer, family & friends.
The 1992 Wausau East basketball alumni will be participating in the first "Matt Linder Memorial Tournament" in his honor. It is scheduled for Saturday, July 23 from 9-5. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Jake and Hannah's 529 college education fund established with American Funds through RBC Wealth Management, Tony Ricker, First Vice-President. In lieu of flowers please make donations payable to: "Matt Linder Memorial Fund" and mail to one of the following addresses: Jon Berkland - 16206 Ringer Rd. - Wayzata, MN 55391 or Alison Mayer - 325 Summit Drive - Wausau, WI 54401.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 7th at 1:00PM at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 6205 Alderson St., Weston, WI 54476. Visitation is from 12:30 until time of service.

I am so sorry to learn of Matt's passing. I cannot imagine the grief of his family and friends. Whenever my husband and I came back from Jenkins Vision care after he helped usand he cheerfully dispensed favorswe always turned to each other and said, "Matt is such a nice guy." It's unusual for a person to be a bright spot in the day of everyone he encounters. He was that. My husband, Jeff, and I send our most sincere condolences.

I knew Matt during difficult time during his life and am shocked to discover he has passed. he loved his children and appeared to me great father .

Matt has been helping me with my glasses for many years. I have a very difficult prescription and he was always very patient and caring. He was warm and friendly and brightened the lives of each person he met. He will be greatly missed. He talked to me a lot about how much he loved his children and I know he was so proud of you! He will be deeply missed. I am so sorry for your loss.

Matt was the sweetest man! Our children went to elementary and middle school together and I always could count on him to help me when I needed help with my glasses. He always had a smile on his face and I know he loved his children so much. He will be sorely missed and my family and I are so sad to hear about his sudden passing. We are sending lots of love and peace to his family and friends.
