Lois W. Palmer

1930 - 2019

Lois Weston Palmer died on March 15, 2019 under hospice care at Maplewood in Brewster. She was 88. She was born in Boston on April 30, 1930. Her father was Charles Burbank Palmer, a newspaper editor, and her mother was Lois Mead Palmer (Patten), a school teacher. Lois graduated from high school in 1949 and then studied modern dance, taking classes with famous dancers such as Jose Limon and Hanya Holm. She was also a student at the summer dance program given at the Connecticut College for Women. She taught modern dance at the YWCA, and also worked in retail sales. In 1956 she married Gordon Nimmons and had two sons. Her older son Bruce predeceased her; her younger son Donald lives in North Carolina. She is also survived by her granddaughters Cara Lynn Bohan and Alexandra Nicole Nimmons; as well as nieces and nephews and by her sister the Reverend Alison Palmer of Wellfleet.
