Ann Bolduc Obituary

Bolduc, Ann (Dempsey passed away on Sept 29 at the age of 77 years. She was the beloved wife of Robert A. Bolduc. Mrs. Bolduc was born in Middleboro, the daughter of Daniel and Orie (Shurtleff) Dempsey. She grew up in Carver and was a 1951 graduate of Plymouth High School. Mr. and Mrs. Bolduc moved to South Yarmouth and she became the dispatcher for the Yarmouth Fire Department while living upstairs in the fire station from 1956 | 1961. Ann was a member of the Cape Cod Womens League of Dennis Pines and was once the state champion. She was an avid bowler for years with the team known as the Barnstable News and was on the television show Candle Pins for Cash. She was one of the Red Soxs most avid supporters and she played bingo from Bourne to Brewster. Crosswords were a daily routine. Mr. and Mrs. Bolduc were poll workers for the Town of Yarmouth and Ann worked at the town hall for a short time. She waitressed for many years at Barby Anns, The Skipper and Pattis Rib House in both W. Dennis and W. Yarmouth. While Bob was working as a state trooper, she was instrumental in forming the State Police Wives Association in 1961. Their goal was to secure better hours for their husbands and to relieve them of the duty of living in the barracks. By 1971 the men were no longer sleeping in the barracks | Go girls! Ann was a cancer survivor from 1955 when they had treated her with cobalt. She became a cancer crusader and worked with the American Cancer Society for many years. She was also a den mother for the cub scouts when her sons were growing up and she was a spotter during WWII. In addition to her husband survivors include her sons, Richard R. Bolduc of Sandwich and Michael A. Bolduc of S. Yarmouth, a brother Gordon Dempsey of Napa Valley, CA, two sisters Marjorie Mosher of Carver and Jane Gallagher of S. Yarmouth, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A service will be held at 1:30 pm Tuesday, Oct. 5 in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., S. Yarmouth. Visitation will precede the service from 12 noon and burial will follow in Chandler Gray Cemetery, West Yarmouth.
