Beverly Ann Buckingham Hinds passed away peacefully at the Ohio Living Sarah Moore senior community in Delaware, Ohio on December 15, 2020 at the age of 90.
Bev lived a very full life as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother (Mimi), homemaker, and enjoyed a career as a Librarian at the Delaware County District Library. In addition to her passion for reading, she was a gourmet cook, and loved hosting special events and holidays for family and friends. She continually kept an immaculate house which was frequently decorated in the latest design. She truly was the "Hostess with the Mostess". She embraced traveling and although she was a big city girl, she inherited a desire for gardening from her Dad, and every place she lived was surrounded by beautiful flower gardens. She appreciated fine art and enjoyed collecting and antiquing over the years. Bev will always be remembered for her instinctive sense of style and impeccable taste.
Bev was born on February 27, 1930 in Union City, Indiana, the oldest daughter of 5, to Ray and Edith Buckingham. She graduated from Union City West High School in 1948 and Hanover College (Alpha Delta Pi) in Indiana in 1952, where she met and married the one and only love of her life, Wilbur Howard Hinds on June 15, 1952. Their life together was rich in travel and experiences and they had the opportunity to live in many cities all over the country, from South Bend, Indiana to Chicago, to New York City, to Moraga and Walnut Creek, California. Bev acclimated and connected to her communities by being a lifelong and active member of the Presbyterian Church. She also spent her time doing philanthropic and volunteer work with the Jr. League in all of these cities.
Preceding her in death: her husband of 29 years, Wilbur Hinds on October 22, 1981; her infant baby- Gregory Hinds; her parents- Ray and Edith Buckingham; her in-laws- Howard and Hazel Hinds and her niece-former Astronaut Dr. Janice Voss.
She will dearly be missed by her much loved daughter and family, Barbara (David) Judson and her 2 cherished grandsons, Hogan and Palmer Judson of Delaware, OH. She will forever be in the hearts of her siblings, Barbara Buckingham of Rochester, NY, Claire (Tom) Nacca of Whispering Pines, NC, Gene (Debbie) Buckingham of Union City, IN and Susan (Daryl) Chronaberry of Delaware, OH. Bev is also survived by her sister-in-law Louise (James) Voss and brother-in -law Eugene Hinds, all of Dupont, IN as well as many cousins, nephews and nieces.
