Dr Casey, I am so very sorry for your loss. You was wonderful with my twin granddaughters and I recall you speaking of your children and your husband when we was in your office. I saw the love in your eyes when you spoke of your husband. I cannot imagine the pain you are going through. I will be praying for you and your children and the family. Good bless you and I truly thank your husband from the bottom of my heart for his service.

Dr. Casey,

After covering the tragedy all week, it wasn't until this morning when I heard your voice and saw your face from the service yesterday that I realized Ivan was the husband you spoke so lovingly of.

You saved our marriage, and I have no doubt that it was due in part by you sharing the success of your own marriage and hearing how kindly you spoke of your husband. It gave us hope and I could never thank you enough.

My heart breaks for you and the kids and I just wanted you to know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers during this unimaginable time.

With so much love and light,
Amy (Lutz) and Peter Smith

My prayers go out to the Flanscha family. I had the honor of working with Ivan in the 80's doing flooring. I always remembered Ivan as a very respectful and respectable person. Very kind and ready to laugh at a moments notice. Although I lost touch with him, he would enter my thoughts from time to time, especially when I thought of amazing guitarist's that I knew. Thank you for those memories, Ivan.

I have not seen Ivan in 30 years, but I grew up with him in Vallejo, California. He was the same guy then as I am sure he was at 50, working hard and helping others. We had sleepovers when we were young, ran the neighborhoods as we got older, but as our paths separated and crossed and separated, I always knew he was a friend I could rely on. I am confident that Ivan added richness to the lives around him; God knew what he was doing. For his wife and family, I pray that you would know fully that the hand of God is near to you. When it is too much to bear, run to The Cross and tell Him. May He give you His strength to bear this.

Please accept our condolences from myself and family.

Ivan was one of the very first friends I made our freshmen year at York College back in 1988. That also makes him my oldest friend in York. All these years later, and he was the only one from college who I still spoke with regularly. He was one of the coolest guys I ever knew and have many fond memories of seeing him play in his band, at his senior recital, or the times we just hung out together. As time went on, we didn't always get to see each other much, but each time we did, it felt like we had just talked last week. He was a good friend and I will miss seeing him. I also share my thoughts and prayers with his children and family. Ivan was such a good man, it saddens me to think what they have lost.

And Ivan, I promise: the next book I write is for you you, man. It's been an honor calling you my friend. Blessed be.

I met Ivan a few years ago when he brought his daughter to the York Woodcarver's meeting so she could learn how to carve. He was a very nice man and I could tell he loved his children very much. He once told me he would do anything for them.

You have my deepest condolences in your time of sorrow. Ivan thank you for the love for your community that you would give your life to help others. You sir are a genuine HERO. May you rest in peace.
