I’m so sad to hear about Bill’s passing. I think we shared the same classroom all through grade school by some odd chance. I’ll remember him as a good friend, but also for teaching me the value of humility. I always thought that I was the fastest kid in playground foot races, but Bill proved me wrong over and over while never gloating. He’d just smile and pat me on the back. In the 7th grade, he turned me on to a new show called “the Wheel of Fortune”, which we would watch during cancelled outside recesses due to inclement weather. We’d sit in front of the television and try to guess the answers as if we were on the set competing against each other. Again, he would just smile, win or lose. And over the years, I always enjoyed our conversations immensely. After one high school class session, he came up to me and said that I made people laugh when I was myself and that I should not try to be someone else. Good advice, Bill. After high school, though I did not see him much, I always enjoyed our encounters to catch up on family and life in general. His wife and children must be blessed to have had him in their lives, and he will remain with them from this day forward. He was a real class act with a warm heart who touched many. May the Good Lord grant him instant access to everlasting peace.

We have known Bill since he was a little guy. We’ve been friends of the family for more years than we can count. There is no better or nicer family than the Durant’s. So sad that they have to lose another one of their children. Bill will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Our sincere sympathy & love goes out to his entire family.
